Good news.  My toe didn't hurt at all throughout the day today.  I used yesterday's Thursday mile to guage my toe's readiness.  I was excited this morning to wake up and not feel any pain.  I actually forgot about it until I left the house this morning.  :)

Work was kind of rough today.  I couldn't wait to lace up the shoes and hit the pavement.  I'm glad I did too.  I feel great!  Running has helped me tremendously with the "stresses" of daily life.  After a run I feel energized and it feels like the stress rubberband has been loosened a bit too.  It's nice.  Doesn't make sense as I read through again, but I'm leaving it.  It's how I feel....and that's better!

I was only going to do another mile tonight, but decided to do a slow paced 5k and focus on my toe, seeing how it felt during the run.  If at any point it would hurt I was going to just walk back, but it never hurt.  In fact  I ended up turning in a 40:52!  My best time being a 40:37.  Not too bad, considering I was focusing on my toe and how it was feeling the whole time, I never looked at the stopwatch.  I had my headphones in so I never heard my splits as I achieved them, (my iPhone says my splits out loud) I wasn't going for time even!  :)

Starting over..... Thursday mile!!!

Okay, so everyone knows I hurt my toe before Christmas.  I took several weeks off letting it heal and decided to do a 3-mile return run two weeks ago.  Well, that didn't go so well.  During my second mile my toe started hurting again, I slowed my pace and finished my run to only have my toe swell up for a couple of days after again.  So I let it heal for two more weeks.  I decided it was in my best interest to start slow this time and go for a "test" run of only one mile.  I just finished that and my toe feels fine!  In fact, I was only 11 seconds slower than my fastest mile!  I am happy with that.  I feel great and am excited to see how my legs, and toe, feel tomorrow.  Hopefully all is well and I can do a mile a night for the next couple of training days before I jump up to 5k distances again.

Activity again!

Well, after a long delay, and a probable broken toe, I'm back to running.  Before Christmas I "stubbed" my toe on an overflowing laundry basket.  I say "stubbed" but have never had my toe hurt so much for so long before! It bruised instantly and was swollen for about a week.  No, I never went to the doctor but decided to take it easy and not run for awhile.  I decided to give it a try tonight.  I felt pretty good but I started to feel it during my second mile.

All in all, I'm happy with my time today.  Taking it easy was on the agenda with my toe, and the soreness is pretty minimal.
